I’ve learned so much from the experience. More than just about investing in property, I feel more confident making decisions about money, and I think that alone is worth its weight in gold. I feel free to manage my own finances for the first time in ages! It’s really liberating.

WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS INVESTMENT?

Really, I was looking for something that could add to my pension. I have a pension from my work, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough to live on when I retire, and I just wanted that peace of mind to know that I don’t have to worry in the future. Really, I was looking for something that could add to my pension. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO INVEST OUTSIDE OF LONDON?

I don’t really have the money to invest in London and of course, the returns are lower. This way, I’m getting 3 properties in Leeds, while I’d just about be able to get 1 in London. If one of the Leeds properties is empty, I know I’ll still have the income from the other two to pay the mortgage, so it diversifies my risk too. It’s a safe way to invest in property. I’m not much of a risk-taker, so it’s good to know that my money is in a really stable investment, backed by bricks and mortar.
