OVERVIEW

Neha was introduced to Lifestyle Property People in 2019 through a business network called BNI. What tempted her to get involved was the low level of investment required and she now owns 2 properties in Leeds – one in East Leeds that she bought jointly with her sister and one in South Leeds that she purchased on her own. We chatted to Neha to learn more about her investment journey and what her plans are for the future.

Just go for it! There’s just no real reason not to. You don’t need to have any knowledge about investing or property as the team will do everything for you. They have your best interests at heart – once they know your goals they’ll help you achieve them.

WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS INVESTMENT?

I saw this as an opportunity to make my money work for me, but also as a means to achieving a bit more freedom: as a pharmacist, I’ve been working all hours of the day for a number of years and I just came to the realisation that it really doesn’t fulfil me.

I don’t feel like I’ve found my calling yet, so, for me, the goal of investing was to create a financial cushion that would give me the time to try out new things. Once I find what I love doing, the plan is to switch careers!

DID YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED FROM THE SERVICE?

Yes – I have no complaints whatsoever! Lifestyle delivered everything they said they would and more – it’s working well and that’s why I decided to go for the second property. In fact, the second property just rented for more than we originally thought so that was a massive increase in return on investment – a real bonus. I really value that I was always kept up to date with what was going on with the properties and their team of trusted suppliers have been excellent too. 

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D TELL ANY OF LIFESTYLE'S PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS?

Just go for it! There’s just no real reason not to. You don’t need to have any knowledge about investing or property as the team will do everything for you. They have your best interests at heart – once they know your goals they’ll help you achieve them. You wont regret it: it’s a tried and tested model and they’ve done it hundreds of times before!

WHAT DREW YOU TO INVESTING IN LEEDS?

I knew we didn’t have enough money to invest in the London market. Leeds seemed like a perfect opportunity because the funds required were much more manageable and the fact that Leeds is an up and coming area, just made the investment seem fool-proof. 

DID YOU HAVE ANY HESITATIONS ABOUT INVESTING IN LEEDS?

I was, of course, apprehensive at first – it is still a lot of money! But when I met the team to find out a bit more about the business and how it all works, I felt like they explained it all so clearly that I walked away empowered to make some changes in my life.

The whole process just seemed reasonably easy and hands free, so I thought that I’d test that water with one property to start with! The figures were realistic and not overinflated, and I didn’t have a clue about how to buy a property myself, so I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the Lifestyle team. 

WHAT DO YOU VALUE ABOUT LIFESTYLE’S SERVICE?

I loved that it was completely hands free – everything was dealt with, from start to finish, without me needing to do much at all. The team earned my trust from the very first meeting, so I was happy to just let them get on with it!

Growing up, my sister and I had always been encouraged by our parents to keep money aside for the future, and while I had managed to save some money, I knew I could put it to better use than having it sitting around in my bank account. The idea of investing in property gave me a real sense of security because, at the end of the day, everyone needs somewhere to live.  

WHY IS INVESTING IN PROPERTY IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I think it’s really important to do something you love doing, but like most people, I got caught up in trying to get a degree and a career and now I have bills to cover. Creating an additional income stream by investing in the Leeds property market has helped to free me from the shackles of my job. It’s eased a lot of the pressure that comes with changing careers  if I switch and I don’t like it or it doesn’t work out, I know I can still manage financially! 

HOW ELSE WILL YOU BENEFIT FROM THE EXTRA INCOME THIS INVESTMENT GENERATES?

I’m still fairly early in my career and it’s good for me to have my money invested rather than just sitting in the bank collecting dust. I’ve got pensions and retirement in the back of my mind too, so this all ties into that and makes me feel like I’m preparing for the future. The investment makes me feel like I’ve earned the freedom to take my life in the direction I want to take it in! 

WHAT RESULTS DID YOU ACHIEVE?

I’ve got a little nest egg building up in the background to provide that financial cushion and eventually free myself from my job. By investing in Leeds it felt like I finally did something for me – and it was brilliant!

I can now make plans about my future – I’ve since trained as an independent prescriber so I could move into a GP practice where I can be more hands-on with patient care and not hidden away in a dispensary. This means I can apply more of my clinical knowledge and I know I’ll get more satisfaction from the job. I could also become an aesthetics pharmacist so there are a few options open to me!

I feel much more confident in making the jump with the security of the properties behind me.
