Alpesh, a London-based care home company director, found out about us through Facebook back in 2018. He already owned two buy-to-let properties in Luton and Peterborough and decided to venture further afield by investing with us in Leeds. 

We asked him about his decision to invest in the Leeds property market.

I wanted to be hands-off and I got that with Lifestyle. They completely surpassed my expectations! I’m currently buying another property with them as I’m very comfortable with their service and am confident that they will deliver.

WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE BY INVESTING IN BRICKS AND MORTAR?

I’m in it for the long term and for the passive income. Having property investments gives me peace of mind, which in turn gives me the financial freedom to lead the life I want. 

 

WHAT DID YOU ACHIEVE BY INVESTING IN LEEDS?

It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made – I just wish I got more. They managed my expectations with regards to the return on investment and completely surpassed them: the ROI on my property is about 11.5%! I’m currently buying another property with them as I’m now very comfortable with their service and am confident that they will deliver.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO INVEST WITH LIFESTYLE IN LEEDS?

It’s one thing to want to invest in property – but it’s a whole different animal investing in the right one. You have to have relationships on the ground in the areas you want to invest. I got to know the team and discovered that they really knew their stuff about Leeds. 

WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT THE LIFESTYLE PROPERTY PEOPLE APPROACH?

I wanted to be hands-off and I got that with Lifestyle. I was presented with an opportunity and told all the benefits and drawbacks too. The numbers stacked up well on paper and that, combined with the fact that these guys had earned my trust, gave me confidence. It was simply a case of me ‘pressing the button’ on the one I liked. Then Lifestyle took over and did everything: from refurbishing the property to letting it. 

WHAT ELSE MAKES THE SERVICE STAND OUT?

Lifestyle kept me in the loop about what was going on. Even if there was no update, they’d email to tell me there was no update, which was brilliant. I didn’t ever have to chase for information.  

And everything they quoted in terms of the refurb costs and timescales was 99% accurate. There was one problem with the chimney in the property I was buying, which showed up on the survey report. The team really went above and beyond to renegotiate the asking price without me even asking – that’s how I know they have my best interest at heart! 

I’ve dealt with a lot of people in the property industry, but these guys are so much better. Even the founder of the company has taken the time to build a relationship with me and I feel like I could easily pick up the phone to him anytime! 

 

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS INVESTMENT EXPERIENCE

Prior to meeting Lifestyle Property People, I had two buy-to-let (BTL) properties, which I bought during the 2008 financial crisisI was keen to purchase another property outside of London and I wanted a hands-off approach, which is why I went to Lifestyle.  

AS WELL AS FINANCIAL FREEDOM, WHAT ELSE ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE?

When I was growing up, I didn’t really get to see much of my father, who was out working 7 days a weekThe only time I’d really see him was on Sunday afternoons, but he’d be exhausted, nodding off on the sofa. I didn’t get to create the memories that most kids do with their dads – there wasn’t much time to have a kick about in the garden or talk about school. As I grew up, I realised why he was doing it, and am humbled by the sacrifices he’d made for our family.  

Now that I’ve got my own son, who’s just turned two, I want to make sure that we do get to spend time togetherI’d also like to make up for lost time with my dad, who’s finally retired and is enjoying a new lease of life. That’s why I’m trying to build up enough passive income that I can provide for them without sacrificing the precious time we have together 

WHAT ELSE ARE YOU DOING WITH THE RETURNS?

If my parents ever need a hand with money, I’ll be able to help them just as they’ve helped me. If we all decide to go on a family holiday, for example, I can afford to bring them along and watch them bond with my son. I’m just trying to repay the favour.
