Akhil discovered our company while browsing Facebook in 2017. He already owned a number of buy-to-let (BTL) properties across London and was interested in investment opportunities in the North of England for his father. After taking a tour of Leeds with us, he instructed us to source, purchase, refurbish and rent a 2 bedroom property in West Leeds for him.

We spoke to Akhil to find out more about his decision.

He already owned a number of buy-to-let (BTL) properties across London and was interested in investment opportunities in the North of England for his father. After taking a tour of Leeds with us, he instructed us to source, purchase, refurbish and rent a 2 bedroom property in West Leeds for him.

We spoke to Akhil to find out more about his decision.

WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS INVESTMENT?

We were looking for security for dad’s future. He’d reached a stage in his life where he was starting to take things a little easier and he wanted to travel more and enjoy his life.

DID YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED FROM THE SERVICE?

Yes, 100%. We’ve had the Leeds property for about four years now and we’ve not had any real issues. We were looking for a place with a good yield and we’ve got exactly that.

WHAT MADE YOU APPROACH LIFESTYLE PROPERTY PEOPLE?

At the time that I discovered Lifestyle Property People, my dad had recently inherited a lump sum and I’d been researching places for him to invest it. Initially, we thought he could invest in the south east of England but then I happened to see something on Facebook about how Lifestyle were investing in Leeds, and the funds required fit perfectly with our budget.

It really was a case of right time, right place! I’d loosely done a bit of research about investing up North – and everything that the Lifestyle team told me about Leeds checked out.

WHAT WAS IT ABOUT THE LIFESTYLE APPROACH THAT MADE YOU WANT TO INVEST?

I liked that the team offered to conduct a tour of Leeds. I went along and it gave me the chance to meet the team and get to know them. I learnt their story and reasons for setting up the business, and I could really relate to their values and work ethic. I got a good feeling about them. They were very honest about the margins and offered a very personal service – they really dug deeper to understand what I was looking to achieve by investing and how the service could help.

I had a lot of questions, but the team were very patient with me and it’s for that reason that I have no hesitation in recommending Lifestyle to others – Honestly, the service was hard to fault. Since then I’ve had the courage to invest in more properties in the North and I’m currently buying another 2 properties in Leeds with Lifestyle.

My parents lost a lot of money in the early 90s, when the economic crash happened. They went through some tough times and since then they’ve worked really hard and sacrificed a lot for me and my siblings – I don’t want them to have to think about money in the future. My parents have done so much for me that I wanted to repay the favour in some small way.

By linking my dad up with Lifestyle he could invest his money without having to worry about how to do it as the team were going to take care of it all.

WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOU?

My dad would do anything to help his family and those value have been carried down the generation to me. I’ve been investing in property for the last few years and it’s going well, so I wanted my dad to do it too.

When my daughter is old enough to understand it, I’d like to share the story of how I built my portfolio with her. For me, I had a plan, I spoke to people about it and asked for their tips to help me make it happen. I have learnt a lot along the way, and it’s been a great journey – especially because I had to figure out how to do it myself. It’s scary to invest but I want to set a good example for my kids – as my parents have for me.

In the future I’d like to set up a charitable organisation and the income I get from properties will help me to achieve that.
