Pension planning is on the agenda. But more than that the passive income gives me the confidence to take a few more risks to grow my business, and to enjoy a better quality of life with my family, go on nice holidays and enjoy great days out. Property is simply the enabler – I think of it as my insurance.

I want to be a ‘giver’ – to provide for my family, open up better opportunities for my team so we can all flourish, and give something back by donating more to charities close to my heart – but in order to do that I need to build up enough resources myself.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A PROSPECTIVE BUYER ABOUT LIFESTYLE?

WHAT MADE YOU TAKE ON THE RISK OF INVESTING OUTSIDE OF LONDON?

The property being cheaper up north certainly helped – but also, I developed strong relationships with the team – I liked and trusted them and felt that they had the right expertise. By handing over the property stuff to them, I didn’t need to worry about it and could spend my time growing my own business.

WHAT DO YOU VALUE ABOUT LIFESTYLE’S SERVICE?

A friend has his own property portfolio in Hatfield but every couple of weeks he’s there fixing something or moving someone in. I’m grateful not being bound by the hassle of it all. That’s why I value Lifestyle and have let them get on with it.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO INVEST IN BRICKS & MORTAR?

Reading ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ convinced me about the pros of buying property and about passive income. And my parents have a portfolio of BTL properties, and they haven’t had major issues with them, so that removed the fear factor of investing for me.
